When in Thailand: Grand Palace Complex

If there is a place swarmed by tourists in Bangkok, it has to be this ever popular Grand Palace complex. While photobombers were everywhere in my photos, I totally get it why all tourists, and probably even locals, keep on taking selfies here.
Well, why not take selfies and photo ops if the sights are as one-of-a-kind and beautiful as these? It is considered the grandest, not only in Bangkok, but in entire Thailand!
A notable area inside the complex is the Wat Phra Kaew or better known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It is the most sacred temple in Thailand. It houses the Emerald Buddha, which is considered as the protector of the country. Maybe this is why I noticed that the architecture is more detailed and creative compared with other buildings within the area.

There are other interesting structures and sights in the complex. Allot two hours or more to go around.
After Wat Phra Kaew, another highlight of course is The Grand Palace, the former residence of the royal family.

Although it only serves now as a venue for ceremonies, the architecture is simply astonishing. It’s like East meets West, showing an influence of the Renaissance but with a touch of Thai especially on the pointed roof designs.
The complex is open from 8:30AM to 3:30PM. As I mentioned, it’s a very touristy place so bring some patience with you—it’s warm, it’s congested, and it’s noisy. We went here at 9AM and it was already jam-packed with people!
Admission fee is 500 THB (around 670 PHP). It is a little heavy in the pocket of a budget traveler but I'd say it’s worth the price. The ticket is also inclusive of entrance ticket to Vimanmek Mansion, a museum containing several artifacts of Thailand. Note, however, that this museum is not inside the Grand Palace complex. It's located at 16 Rajvithi Road, Dusit, Bangkok.
